In recent years there has been considerable interest in both academia and industry in adaptive algorithms for active noise control (ANC) and acoustic echo cancellation (AEC). Adaptive ANC applications now cover a wide range of applications in, for example, air-conditioning ducts, or noise-quietening headsets and freefield ANC systems for the interior of aircrafts. The requirement for industrial and consumer systems continues to stimulate the research community. Similarly, acoustic echo cancellation research and development is being driven by commercially attractive products such as hands-free telephony for the next generation of mutlimedia systems. These recent product developments have been enabled by the advance in adaptive digital signal processing algorithms and the availability of fast DSP processors and mixed signal ASICs. However, there are still many research and development issues under investigation, and in this special issues we aim to present a state of the art resume of some of the efforts within the adaptive signal processing community.
Therefore this special issue will present a research overview of the current state of the art in adaptive filtering for active noise and echo cancellation, with particular reference to adaptive algorithms, their analysis, implementations, and applications. Submissions may address but are not necessarily limited to the following topics:
Prospective authors are invited to submit four copies of their paper along with a completed copyright form to the buest editors at the above address. Typesetting should adhere to the rules outlined in the Instructions to Authors for the International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing. Papers which are not considered for the special issue may be published at a later date.
