Robust video coding for mobile channels

We have developed a videophone system that works over mobile channels. The system uses multiple modulation schemes and uses packet dropping to reduce delay when the channel quality is poor. Here are some of the results obtained by the system in a simulated mobile radio environment.

Simulations have been done with both H.261 and H.263 video codecs. The H.261 simulations were done with a black and white video sequence, while a colour sequence was used for H.263.
