Useful Speech Coding Links

There are quite a few sites on the WWW now that contain useful information related to speech coding. Starting locally within my own group there are online versions of many of our papers here , including several papers on speech and audio coding. These papers come from both our Departmental Research Journal, as well as various IEE and IEEE journals and conference proceedings. As for remote sites, I think all of those below are well worth a place on your list of bookmarks if you're interested in speech coding

• The Comp.Speech FAQ Web Page . Frequently Asked Questions (with answers) about speech coding and other speech related technology such as speech recongnition.
• Tony Robinson's Speech Analysis Course . A complete course on speech analysis, including some stuff on speech coding. Tony Robinson also deserves our thanks for his comp.speech FTP site which I give links to several times in this document. It contains all sorts of useful speech coding and analysis software.
• Digital/Analog Voice Demo . Phil Karn has writen a page that compares the quality of speech produced from lots of different speech codecs with analogue speech corrupted by noise. Sometimes, from this side of the Atlantic, this link is a little slow so you might want to try the local mirror of Phil's stuff here .
• Introduction to DSP Course . This on-line course, from Bores Signal Processing, gives a good introduction to signal processing ideas, such as sampling, correlation ,convolution, Fourier Transforms and digital filters. It also includes a review of DSP processors and how to program them.
