Dr Stephan Weiss
Was awarded the Dipl.-Ing. in 1995, from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, and PhD 1998, from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.  He is a Research Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, since 1999 and a part-time visiting faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) extension school since 1998. Prior to his appointment at ECS, he was a visiting lecturer at the University of Strathclyde in 1998/99, and a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California in 1996/97. His research interests are mainly in adaptive and multirate signal processing, applied to problems in communications, audio, and biomedical areas, and currently focus on fast converging and computationally efficient methods for adaptive equalisation and beamforming. He has 40 technical publications, including a book, and is a member of the IEEE in the USA and the VDE in Germany.
